BIOGRAPHY

"Praising our Lord through song and allowing the Holy Spirit to inspire others through music is a blessing."

As a singer/ songwriter, actress and broadcast media professional, JoEmma displayed her artistic talents since early childhood. In 1994, JoEmma played the role of Maria, a teenager in the United States and her adventures with six other teens; she participated in 105 episodes that aired nationally on TV Azteca for the Telesecundaria English Series. In 1998, JoEmma attended El Conservatorio Nacional de Música de Puebla, and in 2000 she was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music, in Boston, MA where she pursued a degree in Film Scoring.

In 2005, JoEmma received her first calling to write music and sing for the Lord.  Her father, Juan Jose Ureña, presented her the invitation to create an album on the Seven Sacraments. Upon moving to Miami that same year, JoEmma received her second calling to ministry as she became a lead cantor for St. Francis de Sales in Miami Beach. In December 2006, the Lord called JoEmma to expand her ministry as she began working for Pax Catholic Communications, where she shared her talents for the next few years serving as a host of multiple on-air TV and radio shows for Radio Paz.

Since then, all other secular aspirations have dissipated - as her love for the Lord and her faith have called her to answer and deepen her call to ministry. In the last 15 years, JoEmma has served as a music director, cantor and youth minister in several parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Miami.  Presently, she is music director for St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Davie, FL and music minister for the Spanish and Life Teen Masses at St. Maximilian Kolbe in Pembroke Pines, FL.

JoEmma is currently working on her upcoming album entitled “I Will Not Fear,” while pursuing her Liturgy Certification from the University of Notre Dame.
